DORCHESTER Town assistant manager James Wood is optimistic of the Magpies’ chances as they head to Bolitho Park to face Truro City tomorrow (3pm).

Having beaten North Leigh 2-1 first up, Dorchester could post back-to-back league wins at the start of the season for the first time in 16 years.

Back in the 2006/07 Conference South season, Dorchester began with an emphatic 4-1 win over Farnborough before edging Weston-super-Mare 2-1 away.

However, Dorchester face a strong Truro side many onlookers consider to be among the contenders for promotion – a fact Wood acknowledged in his pre-match assessment.

He told Echosport: “It was important we got the win, which we did. There were some good points, some bad points, things we needed to work on and build on.

“The boys have worked hard, we’ll go through a lot of detail on Truro  because they’re a very good side.

“They had a good win (against Hanwell) on Saturday and have a very good squad which they’ve added to.

“They’ve got aspirations this year of being right in the mix come the end of the season.

“You take into account the travel and weather conditions, it’s going to be a hard day but one we’re looking forward to.”

Dorchester welcome back centre-half Keith Emmerson and Wood also reported Tiago Sa (ankle) has had no ill effects from a 27-minute cameo after a pre-season disrupted by injury.
