WEYMOUTH boss David Oldfield backed French defender Noa Boutin to "flourish" at the Terras following his work experience loan from Bournemouth,

Left-back Boutin, 18, comes across from the Premier League side having spent time with Bournemouth's under-18s plus a loan deal at Poole for three months last season.

Boutin showed his promise with an assured debut in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Ebbsfleet, coming on for Harry Kyprianou to complete the final 18 minutes plus an additional 12 in stoppage-time.

Speaking to Echosport, Oldfield said: "He's one I'd like to thank Bournemouth for. They're trying hard to help us out and I know the club in the past have had a lot of Bournemouth players.

"I'm sure that will continue long into the future. It's a very good academy with very good people there.

"Noa has only just joined in the group, he joined (Friday) and will come in and flourish.

"He's one who has good qualities in and out of possession, so we're looking forward to working with him."

Speaking to Weymouth's media team, Oldfield added: "We like him, he's a good character and footballer.

"He has a lot to come and offer. There are things we can work on but we're really pleased to see him here."

In a statement, the Terras said acting CEO Paul Maitland expressed his thanks to AFC Bournemouth for continuing their support of the Terras and is delighted their relationship stands firm.

Boutin was also named 'Scholar of the Year' in May following his outstanding performances in that season.
