DORCHESTER Town are targeting a “really productive August” with a positive result at Yate Town this afternoon (3pm), assistant boss James Wood says.

Their clash comes just 48 hours after Dorchester beat Hartley Wintney 4-2, while Yate drew 3-3 at North Leigh.

The Magpies are gunning for a fourth straight league win, which would guarantee Dorchester their best start to a season for seven years.

Dorchester currently sit fifth after five games, having won four, and already have 12 points – a figure that last season took the Magpies 13 matches to achieve.

Speaking to Dorchester’s media team, Wood wants the county town side to emerge “unscathed” at the Bluebells to reinforce their excellent start.

He said: “The message is to recover because we know we’ve got to go again.

“That will put a demand on them but we can rotate things and we’re happy with the strength of the squad. We’ve got Kieran (Douglas) coming back as well.

“Although we’re happy with the home win, which is vitally important in front of our fans to build that momentum, if we can get any sort of result at Yate that makes for a really productive August.

“Then we go into September. If we can get away unscathed this weekend, it would’ve been a productive August.”

Douglas returns from suspension but Ollie Griggs remains suspended for two matches after the pair were sent off at Beaconsfield. Brad Snelling (concussion) and Michael Lilley remain out injured.
