DORCHESTER TOWN 1

Koszela 90

WIMBORNE TOWN 0

DORCHESTER Town found a 90th-minute winner to knock Wimborne Town out of the FA Cup first qualifying round in a gripping replay at the Avenue Stadium.

The tie looked to be heading for a second 0-0 in the space of four days after Aaron Roberts and Olaf Koszela missed chances for their respective sides.

However, it was the Polish striker who provided a rare moment of quality when he planted a firm shot beyond Thomas Parker-Trott to send Dorchester through – a result harsh on Wimborne who had enjoyed the better attacking moments overall.

Looking to avoid a third successive exit at this stage, Dorchester made four changes to the side that began the initial tie.

Jordi Foot, Ollie Griggs, Alfie Stanley and Matt Neale all came in at the expense of Harvey-Joe Bertrand, Charlie Gunson, Shaq Gwengwe and Olly Balmer.

Bertrand, Gwengwe, Gunson and Balmer provided options off the bench for Dorchester, while Louie Slough and Brad Snelling retained their places in the dugout.

Jordan Ngalo was fit enough to feature in the squad after a hamstring niggle.

Looking to continue from Saturday, where Dorchester enjoyed the better chances, the hosts constructed a patient move and former Dorchester captain Ash Wells was forced to slide in to clear.

Soaking wet after a drenching from two torrential showers, the Avenue 3G pitch was conducive to slick passing or low, skidding shots.

Jack Hoey, himself a former Dorchester player, opted for the latter to test home keeper Harry Lee with a tricky 25-yarder.

No Dorchester player could then gamble on a shapely cross from Alex Moyse, before Tiago Sa fired over from an acute angle after good work by Foot.

Chances began to flow as Aaron Roberts skirted round Foot on the byline before blasting at Lee.

Roberts was involved again in the best chance of the half as Hoey raided down the right and sent in a perfect cross for the forward, who completely fluffed his lines when unmarked 12 yards out.

Dan Bartlett shot wide powerfully from 25 yards as Wimborne began to dominate, Dorchester only able to respond when Kieran Douglas glanced a header wide.

Keith Emmerson whistled a half-volley over and Hoey burst forward before shooting wide as the visitors gave a reminder of their threat.

Wimborne finished the half strongly as Harry Morgan bent a lovely shot just wide and Hoey stung the palms of Lee prior to the break.

Wimborne retained the ascendancy in the second half as ex-Weymouth striker Harry Baker stole a yard and blasted over 20 yards out.

However, Dorchester really should have made it 1-0 when Douglas cushioned a Neale corner back across goal for Koszela, who could only guide his header wide when unmarked.

Dorchester were having joy from set-pieces as an Emmerson header forced a vital clearance off the line from Connal Morrison.

Wimborne still looked dangerous in attack as Hoey flicked a header over and Baker rifled into the roof of the stand.

Dorchester all of a sudden appeared leggy and the sprightly Baker teed up Roberts for a fierce shot at Lee before the former saw an effort deflected wide.

Koszela surged forward and rippled the side-netting from 25 yards and Parker-Trott had to be alert to deny sub Gwengwe on the break.

Bartlett forced a juggle from Lee with another vicious 25-yarder but it was Dorchester who would strike the telling blow.

The hosts’ best move of the match saw Sa fizz in a low cross from the left to pick out Stanley and his lay-off set up Koszela perfectly to boom a side-footed shot into the back of the net from 18 yards.

Wimborne nearly equalised in the 94th minute as Morgan got a toe to Wells’ cross but the visitors won a 97th-minute corner to turn up the pressure higher.

Parker-Trott was pushed up for the corner but Douglas got the set-piece clear to invite the final whistle as Dorchester progressed to a tie with either Willand or Swindon Supermarine.
