DORCHESTER Town have turned to pilates in a bid to continue their excellent run of form when they make the trip to Wiltshire to face Swindon Supermarine this evening (7.30pm).

Glenn Howes’ Magpies are flying high in fifth position having been defeated just once in six league games this campaign.

Dorchester have gone six matches unbeaten since that 4-0 loss at Truro, but Supermarine have also enjoyed an excellent start.

They occupy sixth place, although their haul of 12 points is one fewer than the Magpies.

One advantage the Marine do have is their excellent record over Dorchester.

Prior to Dorchester’s home 2-1 win over their opponents in February, the Magpies had not beaten them in seven attempts since they won promotion to Dorchester’s league for the 18/19 season.

During that time, the Magpies have lost all five of their games at the Webbswood Stadium, scoring in just one of those encounters.

Speaking to Echosport, first-team coach Brian Churchill said: “We haven’t enjoyed going up there, I must admit.

“It’s going to be our toughest test to date. It’s all about going up there and getting a result of some degree, whether that be a point on the road or three.

“I’d guess without the four goals at Truro we’re probably up there with the tightest defence in the league.

“On the flip side, (Supermarine) have got the league’s leading scorer in Harry Williams, so it’s going to be an interesting battle. Their front line against our defence.

“I’m sure out boys will be doing their best to stand strong and keep that clean sheet for us.”

Last weekend’s pause due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II has given Dorchester an unexpected rest, with the Magpies playing four times in 11 days previous.

And Churchill revealed the Magpies have turned to pilates to keep loose for their next fixture.

He said: “We’re all good to go. We had a free weekend, so they were left to their own devices to do their own fitness work over the weekend.

“It’s probably worked in our favour because we had a few heavy legs. They had a pilates session, something a little bit different.

“They were all working together with an instructor from Southampton, so they’re all fit and raring to go.”

The fixture against Supermarine is the first in a double bill between the sides in the space of four days, with Dorchester making the same journey on Saturday for their FA Cup second qualifying round clash.

To get to that stage, both clubs needed replays and beat respective opponents Wimborne and Willand 1-0.

Jordan Ngalo (hamstring) and Mike Lilley continue to be assessed by the Magpies’ medical staff, while Alex Moyse should feature.
