DORCHESTER Town boss Glenn Howes believes the FA Cup second qualifying round tie at Swindon Supermarine is an “extremely winnable” fixture for the Magpies.

Dorchester visit the Webbswood Stadium this afternoon (3pm) for the second time in four days after the hosts won 3-2 in Wednesday’s league clash.

Should the sides draw today, it raises the possibility of a third game in one week, but Howes revealed how his squad has spoken about going on a cup run this season.

Speaking to Echosport, he said: “I think it’s really unusual to have that opportunity to right a few wrongs, to have it in such a short space of time.

“We can’t wait to come back and play. We’re full of energy, desire and determination to have a cup run this year.

“We’d really love to do that for the supporters and the club. The players have talked about it and we’ve got that opportunity.

“It’s an extremely winnable fixture for us, as it is for Swindon.”

He added: “There will be no change in our approach to the game. We’ll try and win that game and get ourselves in the hat for the next round.”

Howes also offered an update on the fitness of Jordan Ngalo (hamstring) and Mike Lilley (illness).

On the duo, he said: “Jordan has had some extensive treatment with the physio. Unfortunately, he won’t be ready.

“His rehabilitation has been stepped up and he’s making good progress so we’re hoping to have him in the squad for next Saturday and get a full week’s training with the players.

“Mike has made a really good recovery but he’s been coming back from an illness. He’s trained with the team, so he’ll be in the squad.”

Dorchester captain Callum Buckley (back) and Alex Moyse (thigh) sustained impact injuries on Wednesday and will be assessed.

At the time of writing, Dorchester were working on a deal to extend teenage goalkeeper Harry Lee’s loan from Exeter.

Aside from that, Howes intimated that there would be no more recruitment prior to the match.

He said: “There will be no more additions, we’re happy with the players we have at this moment in time.”

Winners of the tie will take home £3,375 and the losers £1,125. The third qualifying round draw takes place on Tuesday (1pm).
