BRIDPORT'S seemingly endless search for a win continues, following a 2-0 home loss to Dartmouth, writes Jon Smith.

In an even first half, both Solomon Ayunga and Mo Hereka threatened the visitors' goal in the first five minutes before Louis Roberts and Cameron Webb replied in kind within the next 10 minutes.

Owen Peart squirmed his way past two defenders, before firing a shot at Dartmouth goalie Jimmy Weekes, who fumbled the ball on the goal line, before safely gathering it with 17 minutes played.

As the half progressed, the teams exchanged shots with Robbie Chalk for the visitors and both Mat Oliveira and Peart for Bridport, peppering the goal.

But Dartmouth slowly gained control of the game after the break, with Chalk forcing Jordon Scadding in the home goal to make a smart save, just three minutes after the restart.

On 57 minutes, Dartmouth took the lead. A long ball, cleared from the Dartmouth defence, soared over the Bees’ Riley Greenwood Neate, allowing the advancing Chalk to close in on goal and fire the ball past Scadding.

With 65 minutes elapsed, Bridport’s dismay increased when, having thwarted one attempt on goal, Scadding left his leg still, but extended, out for Louie Roberts to tumble over to win a penalty which Robbie Bowker converted for 2-0.

Despite Bridport’s best efforts, collectively, Oliveira, Riley Weldon and Dan Baggs, unleashing a shot that was blocked on the line in injury time, could not reduce the deficit.
