DORCHESTER Town have confirmed the exit of midfielder Ollie Griggs to Pitching In Southern League Premier South rivals Winchester City.

Griggs re-joins Winchester for a third spell, with his stint at the Magpies also being his third and lasting just six games.

His career tally for Dorchester now stands at 30 matches, with two goals.

Griggs was sent off in the 1-0 win at Beaconsfield and has struggled to cement his place in the midfield, earning just three starts.

He elected to leave the Citizens this summer after helping guide them to promotion.

Speaking to Winchester’s media team, Griggs shed light on his departure.

He said: “It was a shame to leave in the summer but circumstances happened and I couldn’t say no when the offer came back.

“It’s always close to me and it’s always been fond memories. It was too good to say no.”

On his brief spell at Dorchester, Griggs added: “It was good, we had a successful pre-season and played a lot of games, still in the same position I was in at Winchester.

“I was coming in and out for a few games and I got a few yellow cards and a red card as well, so I had a suspension.

“After that I was in and out. It’s been all right, I’ve been playing well. Nothing crazy to report on, but it’s been great.”

And Griggs has designs on keeping a place in City’s team for the remainder of the season.

“I’d like to cement a starting position in the team,” he said.

“Alongside that I’d like to keep the club in league it’s in and push on as hard as we can.”

In a short statement, Dorchester said: “We would like to wish Ollie all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts during his time with us this season.”
