WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson has spoken highly of new recruit Ed James, insisting: “We’re very lucky" to have him.
Centre-half James on Saturday became the eighth new signing of Wilkinson’s tenure, joining on a work experience loan until January from Exeter City.
James, who has played 54 minutes in League One for the Grecians this season, was an unused substitute in Weymouth’s 3-0 defeat at Dartford on Saturday – despite Nathan Carlyle’s suspension.
However, Wilkinson insisted James would play a big part for the Terras in future games.
He told Echosport: “He’s a young, upcoming centre-half who’s a winner and wants to learn the game.

“We only had one centre-half playing because the other one was suspended.
“Next week, Ben Gerring is cup-tied so you’ve got to have defensive cover.
“We’re very lucky to get Ed, he’s been in the first team and around cup games. He’s a young lad with not a lot of experience.
“Hopefully we can help him learn his trade.”
