DORCHESTER TOWN 0

DORCHESTER Town claimed a point at Hendon as their Pitching In Southern League Premier South clash ended in a 0-0 draw at Silver Jubilee Park.

New Magpies goalkeeper Lloyd Thomas saved a Joe White penalty in the second half and both sides had chances to win it before sharing the points.

The result gives Dorchester their third-straight league clean sheet, extending to six games their unbeaten run in all competitions.

They drop one place to sixth in the standings but close to within a point of fourth-placed Poole after their loss at Harrow.

Dorchester made three changes to the side that began the 1-0 win over Met Police last weekend.

Loan goalkeeper Ryan Hall left the club after being recalled by Aldershot, with Harvey-Joe Bertrand and Alfie Stanley missing out.

Current Poole and ex-Wimborne and Weymouth custodian Thomas came in on a short-term basis to replace Hall, while Kieran Douglas returned from suspension and Matty Neale replaced Stanley.

Going into the game, Dorchester were fifth and Hendon 20th, with the Magpies winning three and drawing one of their past five matches against Hendon.

And Hendon started this game the brighter as the Greens looked to reverse that trend.

White headed over on five minutes and Thomas had to have his wits about him with two quick saves to deny Liam Brooks.

Dorchester came back into it when Douglas headed wide and Neale then dragged past the post following good work from Olaf Koszela.

Play then bogged down with several fouls, including a yellow card for Hendon’s Josh Dawodu, although Dorchester finished the half strongly.

Charlie Gunson got a 20-yard shot away, only to direct it over, and pinball in the Hendon box allowed Harvey Bradbury to poke wide.

Dorchester began the second half as they ended the first, as Bradbury’s powerful effort was bravely blocked by Guri Demuria.

However, Dorchester were thrown a curveball on 56 minutes when Jordan Ngalo was adjudged to have fouled Brooks in the box.

White stepped up and smacked his spot-kick to the right of Thomas, who guessed correctly and pushed the ball clear to the delight of Dorchester’s travelling support.

Boss Glenn Howes reacted by bringing off Louie Slough for Tiago Sa and Hendon made a double sub as the teams adjusted their sides for the final 25 minutes.

Douglas again worked Greens’ keeper Marcin Brzozowski with a header and the shot-stopper denied Neale from six yards as Dorchester pushed on.

The game was becoming more and more stretched with three points there for taking, Hendon seeing a triple effort denied as Brooks an Rohdell Gordon had shots blocked either side of Thomas repelling White.

Dorchester came even closer to breaking the deadlock when Neale beat his man and unleashed an effort at goal that Brzozowski somehow clawed away.

And when Gunson went down in the box, Dorchester had appeals for a penalty waved away.

Striker Stanley was introduced with six minutes to go as the Magpies chased the winner but the last action went to Thomas who safely gathered a free-kick to invite the final whistle.

Dorchester have no game on Saturday due to Beaconsfield’s FA Trophy clash, meaning the Magpies return to action at Plymouth Parkway on Tuesday, November 22 (7.45pm).
