BOBBY Wilkinson expects a “very tricky” assignment at Welling United following the Terras’ dominant 3-0 FA Cup win over the Wings this season.

Weymouth travel to Welling tomorrow (3pm) looking to take their second straight Vanarama National League South win.

They come up against a United side sitting in 12th having started the season comfortably inside the play-off places.

Weymouth know they cannot move off bottom spot even with three points, but Wilkinson means “business” as he seeks to build on the victory over Braintree.

He told Echosport: “This is going to be very tricky to go into their back yard. They’re going to want to make amends for when we destroyed them at our place.

“We know this is going to be difficult but the boys have trained hard this week and I’m really pleased.

“The cup games are gone now, it’s been a great journey but now it’s about business. There’s 30 games left so 90 points are up for grabs.

“We need to start picking up some of them. If you can’t win it, don’t lose it.

“There’s no distractions now, we’re focused and we’ve got a job to do.”

He added: “We’re still trying to bring in a couple of defenders. We’re finding it very difficult at the moment.

“We’ve been travelling the country this week trying to watch players. Our main priority is still to find defenders.

“Our full-backs are still out, a big loss for any manager when you’ve only got two fit defenders.”

Wilkinson has already brought in a new defender in Scott Rees, who made his debut in the 4-2 loss at Worthing on Saturday.

Wilkinson said: “I’ve tried to bring in a bit of experience. Scotty’s been around with me at Hungerford and Bracknell.

“He’s a very good player and played well last week. He’s a good addition to the group so I’m really pleased about that.”

Wilkinson also lifted the lid on Mitchell Parker, who has left the club after suffering a knee injury.

He said: “He’s injured, he’s out for a long time. He’s done his meniscus so he’s got quite a serious injury.

“He was coming back but he’s trained and done his meniscus. We think Teddy Howe’s going to be a long one and Harry (Kyprianou) is going to be about six weeks.”

Howe (knee) and Kyprianou (hamstring) miss out but Luke Nippard and Tom Bearwish are in contention.
