BELLE CONSTRUCTION 55

BELLE Construction soared to a 55-35 victory over New Body Fitness in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.

Premier leaders Belle went straight into this match ready to compete and stormed into an early lead.

As the quarter progressed, play began to even out. There were errors in attack at both ends but possession was won back by great intercepts by both defensive units.

The game gathered more pace in the second quarter, with some powerful passes throughout court.

Good pressure from New Body defence meant Belle had to work the ball around their shooting circle, but they demonstrated good patience in working the ball to goal.

Renewed energy from New Body in third quarter made for their strongest quarter yet.

However, changes in Belle’s defence saw them come out fighting in the final quarter.

New Body C Kirsty Winning consistently covered lots of ground at pace, but New Body could not catch up to the lead Belle built in the first half, despite finishing strongly.

GUNGHO MARKETING 23

BUGLERS collected their sixth Premier win of the season with a 42-23 success over Gungho.

Buglers started off with an impressive first quarter, securing an early lead.

Buglers’ GA Kat Frampton strong shooting and taking some great balls from WA Niamh Randall. Gungho used strong passes down court, with great intercepts from WD Lauren Wilson.

In the second quarter, Gungho C Anna Charles showed great movement around court, helping her team to move the ball down into their shooters.

Buglers’ GK Stacey Stollis and GD Chloe Grier working well together and both taking several intercepts.

Although Gungho demonstrated good form, and had a better quarter, Buglers still managed to extend their lead.

Gungho start off with a strong third quarter, with some accurate passes from WA Holly Calton.

Although Gungho’s attack was working better, Buglers’ defence were up to the challenge and they continued to apply pressure.

Despite Gungho’s fighting spirit in the final quarter, Buglers remained dominant across court and they took the win.

LULWORTH LIGHTNING 32

EXE TRAINING 21

LULWORTH Lightning were given a stern test by Exe Training in Division One before emerging 32-21 winners.

Exe got off to a good start, with great shooting, however both teams were very quiet on court.

Exe’s strong defence was matched by Lulworth’s GD Becky Cousins, who made some powerful interceptions. The first quarter was very evenly matched, with Lulworth taking just a two-goal lead into the second quarter.

Both teams struggled to settle into a rhythm in second quarter, although Exe did eventually begin to work the ball well through court. This allowed them to keep Lulworth’s lead at just two-goals, ready for a close second half.

Lightning pushed ahead slightly in the third quarter. Although Exe’s GK Gracie Kingston got some very impressive rebounds, Lulworth’s WA Jo Davies continually made good space and gave her team lots of opportunities in attack.

In the final quarter, Lulworth controlled possession. This, along with accurate shooting by their GA Madison Carter, allowed them to build on their lead for a comfortable win.

DREAM DIGITAL 15

SANDSFOOT SIRENS 41

SANDSFOOT Sirens took a commanding 41-15 victory in Division Two over Dream Digital.

There was wonderful play from Dream’s C Meegan Ling at the start of this game, with some strong attacking play around the circle. However, Sandsfoot strong passes meant they led 5-2 at quarter-time.

Dream initially managing to gain a few goals back in second quarter, thanks to some lovely passing by their midcourt. Despite this, as the quarter went on Sandsfoot managed to hold their lead with some good shooting by GA Lexie Davis.

Both teams were fighting hard for possession in the third quarter.

Good attacking play from Dream and shooting from Dream GS Teresa Bel made for their best quarter so far but Sandsfoot continued to extend their lead.

Great defensive work from Dream WD Lucy Horon in the final quarter but Sandsfoot had a substantial lead that took them to victory.
