WEYMOUTH have the chance to go four Vanarama National League South games unbeaten when they visit Tonbridge Angels tomorrow (3pm).

Bobby Wilkinson’s men followed up wins over Braintree and Welling with a 0-0 draw against Cheshunt last time out.

The last time Weymouth went four league games unbeaten was during the 2019/20 season immediately before the curtailment of football due to Covid-19.

Following the 2-0 win over Slough, Weymouth were six games unbeaten and extended that run to nine matches after the play-offs and a 0-0 draw at Altrincham on their return to the National League.

But Wilkinson is wary of Tonbridge, who beat the Terras 3-1 on the opening day. Angels sit ninth compared to Weymouth’s 24th.

He told Echosport: “They’re playing very well, we’re up for a real big challenge once again back on (3G).

“This isn’t an easy game to go to, especially with our injuries as well. It’s something we don’t fear. We’ve trained very hard and we go there to pick up some points.”

Hari McCoy (concussion) is out for three weeks but Wilkinson confirmed nearly all players affected by the recent virus are now fit enough. Michael Dome-Bemwin (ill) is the only doubt.

Teddy Howe (knee) requires surgery but Harry Kyprianou (hamstring) has returned to light jogging.

Luke Nippard (back) is rated at “70-30” in favour of playing by Weymouth, who continue to monitor Ben Thomson (ankle).

Tom Bearwish returns after suspension, while the Terras are working on two new defensive signings of which a full-back is the likeliest to materialise.

Weymouth will not pursue triallist defender Nelson Akinboye following the 4-3 win over Hamworthy in midweek.

Meanwhile, Echosport understands the clubs were in negotiations to play the fixture early, given England’s World Cup quarter-final against France tomorrow (7pm).

However, the respective parties were unable to reach an agreement.

Weymouth have also confirmed their supporters’ coach to Tonbridge will not run.
