DORCHESTER Town will look to follow Poole Town’s example at North Leigh tomorrow (1.30pm), according to first-team coach Brian Churchill.

Tom Killick’s Dolphins beat the Pitching In Southern League Premier South basement boys 4-0 away last time out to sustain their push for the play-offs.

Dorchester are in eighth, six points and four places behind Poole, and are targeting the double over North Leigh, at the revised kick-off time of 1.30pm, after beating them 2-1 on the opening day.

Speaking to Echosport, Churchill referenced Poole’s win as the template for trying to beat the Millers.

He said: “We’ve got to go there and do what Poole Town did, be professional in our outlook and give them the respect they deserve.

“But also we’ve got to go there knowing it’s a chance to get three points and a good chance. The first goal’s going to be absolutely vital.”

Back in August, Dorchester boss Glenn Howes was pushed to the ground after kicking the ball away late on as the Magpies sought to preserve their slender lead.

Howes, Leigh player James Dobson and Churchill were all booked for their part in an incident that sparked a huge brawl amongst the sides.

Asked if there was consequently any extra needle going into the game, Churchill said: “I’m not sure, I think their management team’s changed.

“They’ve got some new personnel in so whether that rivalry will continue? I’d hope we go up there and have a pleasant afternoon.

“We always knew December was going to be a difficult month. You look at the fixtures, we’ve got to be realistic about where we are and where we’re going to pick up points.

“North Leigh away is one we look to pick up points at and Poole Town and Truro (are) games where we want to avoid defeat, without putting added pressure on ourselves.”

Dorchester will be without Olaf Koszela (ankle) but otherwise are injury-free.
