WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson challenged his side to break new ground this season ahead of visiting Worthing in the Vanarama National League South tonight (7.45pm).

Weymouth are second in the form table and looking to go five league games unbeaten following their 5-0 thrashing of Tonbridge on Saturday.

The Terras also lifted themselves off bottom spot with that victory, although they have not been placed above 22nd this season.

And Wilkinson urged his side to keep improving those statistics as they prepare to face a Worthing side that has beaten them twice this season.

He told Echosport: “I just go there because it’s the next game. I don’t care who we’re playing, we’ll prepare properly.

“Can we compete against a brilliant footballing side, pick up three points? Can we keep the momentum going?

“Can we go five unbeaten? Can we go top of the form guide?”

He added: “They’re one of the best sides I’ve seen this year. They have some great footballers and play very well at home.

“It’s a difficult place to go to on a Tuesday night, but guess what? We look forward to it, to go and compete against them. We’re a different team now, we go there with that belief.”

Teddy Howe (knee), Hari McCoy (concussion) and Harry Kyprianou (hamstring) remain out.

At the time of writing, the match has not fallen foul of the cold weather.

Completion of the fixture is dependent on the weather, but the sides are helped by Worthing’s 3G pitch – a surface that sees far fewer postponements in winter than grass.
