WEYMOUTH boss Bobby Wilkinson urged the Terras to improve their home form ahead of welcoming Taunton Town to the Bob Lucas Stadium on Boxing Day (3pm).

Wilkinson’s men have won four of their past six league games, but only one victory in that stretch – the 1-0 win over Braintree – has come in front of their own faithful.

That triumph gave Weymouth their only three points at home in 10 matches so far this season, making for the worst record of all the 24 Vanarama National League South clubs at home.

And against a miserly Taunton defence, the Peacocks having conceded the fewest amount of league goals this season (16), Wilkinson knows Weymouth are up against it.

He told Echosport: “They’ve built a very good team over the last few years and this is going to be a challenge.

“We need to turn up and do well for ourselves. It’s all about us, what we can do as a team and achieve on the day.

“That is to play with lots of energy, passion and desire. Hopefully we can outsmart them and get three points at home.

“Our away form has been fantastic but this is just another game of football. We should be performing well at home.

“We know what to expect, it’s our own fans, ground and it’s a lot tougher to go away when you don’t know the facilities.

“So, we need to start picking up some points now at home and trying to play better.”

Tom Bearwish is available before his one-game ban kicks in, but David Sesay (ankle) misses out along with Teddy Howe (knee), Harry Kyprianou (hamstring) and Ben Thomson (ankle).
