DORCHESTER Town boss Glenn Howes had "no complaints" with a 3-0 loss to Poole Town in their Pitching In Southern League Premier South tussle at the Black Gold Stadium.

Howes’ only gripe was the straight red card given to Kieran Douglas as Poole went 2-0 up from the penalty spot, Tony Lee converting.

Lee had already scored a one-on-one chance and his fellow ex-Dorchester striker Toby Holmes completed the scoring late in the second half to consign the Magpies to a rare defeat.

Speaking to Echosport, Howes said: “We’ve got no complaints in terms of the result. Unfortunately, on transition they were much better than us.

“We were too expansive, too soon. That caught us out for two goals and we didn’t create any chances.

“Charlie Gunson’s hit one from 25 yards that’s whistled past the post, but we haven’t made their goalkeeper work at all. We felt we didn’t deserve anything.

“It’s a disappointing afternoon for us, especially coming off the back of such a good performance from last week.

“We really wanted to give a good account of ourselves being a local derby against Poole.

“Unfortunately, it just seemed to be one of those afternoons where what could’ve went wrong, went wrong.

“The sending off was a key element going down to ten men against a team of the quality of Poole.

“We didn’t start the game well and could’ve done a lot more, that’s for sure.”

On the penalty incident, Howes added: “My brother was right in line with it, had clear eyesight of it.

“Everybody in the ground thought it was an extremely good tackle.

“He’s taken the ball cleanly and at not one point did we think it was a penalty or even a sending off.

“So, we’ve just started proceedings in terms of investigating and looking into it so we can appeal it.”
