WEYMOUTH assistant boss Mike Percival has called on the Terras to be “better in both boxes” for the return trip to Taunton Town this evening (7.45pm).

Bobby Wilkinson’s men missed a hatful of chances against the Peacocks, who schooled the Terras in a lesson of clinical finishing by scoring all three of their shots on target for a 3-1 win.

Weymouth’s defence was another story, with three midfielders filling into the back four and an admin error preventing Dan Matsuzaka from replacing the injured Charlie Rowan.

And Percival is hoping for a more complete performance from Weymouth at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, where an early pitch inspection is likely due to heavy rainfall.

He told Echosport: “The message to the boys this week is that we’ve got to be better in both boxes.

“We’ve dominated the game on Boxing Day, however they had three chances and took all three.

“We had probably 15 clear-cut chances and only scored one. So, be better in both boxes and I’m sure we’ll produce a positive result.

“Preparation’s been good, we had the boys in on Wednesday for a recovery session. They’re all hungry and ready to go.”

Asked if Weymouth had worked on finishing since Boxing Day, Percival said: “Yes and no.

“It’s not something we’ve specifically worked on on Wednesday. In reality, it was a recovery session.

“Legs are heavy and you don’t want to work on shooting patterns because that’s how muscle injuries can go.

“I don’t think it took a genius to work out that we played really well and on another day could’ve scored six or seven goals.”

Weymouth are not understood to be close to making any new signings, preferring instead to wait until the January transfer window opens.

Boosting the defence, David Sesay (ankle) is 50/50 and Harry Kyprianou is nearing full fitness after completing 45 minutes against Taunton.

Tom Bearwish (suspended), Rowan (collar bone) and Michael Dome-Bemwin (unavailable), Teddy Howe (knee) and Ben Thomson (ankle) miss out.
