WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson has confirmed the Terras have a “24-hour call-back” option on midfielder Cam Murray.

Murray, whose loan deal with Southern League Premier South outfit Poole Town expires after this weekend, will remain with the Dolphins until Weymouth require his services.

Player and club are happy with what is effectively an open-ended deal, agreed to supply Murray with 90-minute football.

Murray played the entirety of Poole’s 2-2 draw with Beaconsfield on Saturday.

Explaining the terms of the deal, Wilkinson told Echosport: “He’s going to stay at Poole at the moment and keep getting games.

“We have a 24-hour call-back. As soon as we want him, if we pick up any injuries or I want to freshen it up, we’ll call him back.

“He’s still in my plans but at the moment I’d rather have him playing games than sitting on the bench, because he’s going to be important.

“Thanks to Poole for allowing the 24-hour call-back. Cam is still very important to this group.

“We spoke and he said he’d still like to carry on playing games. Sometimes, I’ve got to balance the books as well.

“That’s for us as a club to work out. People will have their opinions.”

Asked if Murray is part of his long-term plans, Wilkinson replied: “I’m not looking too far ahead, apart from the next game.

“Cam’s a wonderful player. We just want to give him 90-minute football because he wants it as well, It’s a two-way thing.

“We’ve had discussions and, remember, he doesn’t have to go out. He could stay here.

“We’ve both decided what’s the right thing, manager to player. I want to do it the right way and it’s working for both of us.”

Weymouth next visit Farnborough and Murray’s next Poole game coming at home to Truro. (both Tuesday 7.45pm).
