WEYMOUTH must attack in-form Farnborough “with purpose” in this evening’s Vanarama National League South away contest (7.45pm).

Bobby Wilkinson’s clear message comes after the Terras drew 0-0 with St Albans City on Saturday, missing a handful of good chances and seeing a Brad Ash penalty saved.

Farnborough come into the game having won three of their past four matches, punctuated by a loss last time out to Eastbourne.

And, while Wilkinson fully respects Boro, he called for his players to be braver in possession as the Terras look to elevate themselves from 23rd.

He told Echosport: “They got beaten at the weekend so they’re going to want to bounce back.

“They’ve been on a great run of form and are hunting the play-offs down. They’re going to be the favourites, going to expect to beat us.

“That’s where we’re looking forward to the challenge, we’ll go there and compete, continue the form at the weekend but with a couple of goals at the end of it.

“We go there with confidence. I’m looking for consistency and for us to be brave on the ball.

“Let’s attack Farnborough with purpose and energy, let’s go there and see if we can get a win.”

He added: “All I’m doing is concentrating on us, the positives, lots of energy and people going there with the mindset that we can beat Farnborough.

“That’s what I’m looking for, people enjoying their football and trying to get wins.”

While recognising Farnborough’s strengths, Wilkinson voiced his desire to concentrate on his side.

He said: “They’re excellent going forward, they’re a good side. We’ve got to go there, play on the front foot and not let them get us on that counter.

“We’re not going there to sit back, we’re going there to try and win a game of football, like we do every game.

“Really, it’s about us. I’ve done a hell of a lot of work on them but I’m trying to drill it into our players that it’s about us.

“We’re a good group, good players and when we turn up we play very well. We’ve won some really big games away from home this year at Slough, Tonbridge, Worthing.

“Could we go and pull out another result like that? As a manager, you’ve got to remind these players how good they are.

“We’ll work on tactics and what we need to do to win. You’ll win more games than you lose if you keep working extremely hard as we are.

“We’ve taken seven points out of 15. For a team in the bottom (four) that’s not bad. The other games we’re disappointed how we lost.

“We’re in good form ourselves, just not getting the rub of the green.

“We’re going to keep picking up points as best we can, keep plugging away.”

Tom Blair serves the final match of a two-game suspension, while Scott Rees and Luke Nippard are both fit after cramp.

Keelan O’Connell (groin), Teddy Howe (knee) and Ben Thomson remain out.
