WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson feels the Terras are “buzzing” ahead of their home meeting with second-placed Dartford in the Vanarama National League South tomorrow (3pm).

Wilkinson’s men thrashed Concord 5-0 away in their last outing but begin a demanding run of eight games in 22 days against the promotion-chasing Darts.

Weymouth, 20 places lower than Dartford, have also undertaken an extra training session this week, preparing themselves for the Dartford game.

Speaking to Echosport ahead of the game, Wilkinson said: “I can’t wait. I’m buzzing to be playing one of the top sides.

“Buzzing as a group for a big challenge and looking forward to seeing if we can be consistent. That was the team meeting behind closed doors.

“Can we keep the same standards as last week? We’ve worked extremely hard to be ready.

“Without a shadow we’re underdogs and I have no issue with that because league tables don’t lie.

“They deserve to be where they are. We’re going to have to be strong and physical and match them.

“But, as I always say, it’s 11 against 11 and on our day we can beat anyone.

“The difference between both sides is that one’s been consistent all season and one hasn’t.”

On Weymouth’s busy schedule, their next four games coming in eight days, Wilkinson said: “I’m working extremely hard to make sure we can keep the loan boys here.

“We’re working extremely hard to make sure the players that haven’t been fit are fit, and making sure that the lads behind match fitness are getting up to match fitness.

“There’s a lot of hard work behind the scenes that we’re doing that we have to do at this stage.

“It’s the business end of the season but we’re not looking ahead, it’s just win your next game and then we’ll prepare for Chippenham.

“You’ve got to keep your feet on the ground.”

Weymouth are looking to extend the loans of Brendan Willson, Jamie Egan plus Reading pair Nahum Melvin-Lambert and David Nyarko until the end of the season.

Echosport understands the quartet is free to play this weekend.

Wilkinson added: “It looks like it’s going to be good news but until they’ve signed on the dotted line you never know.”

Keelan O’Connell (groin) could return to the squad, while Ben Thomson (ankle) and Teddy Howe (knee) are one week further away.
