CAMERON Murray cannot play against parent club Weymouth for Poole Town in the Dorset Senior Cup final, the Terras have confirmed.

Murray is currently with the Dolphins until his services are required, with the aim of giving the ex-Dorchester midfielder more 90-minute game time.

Weymouth possess a 24-hour call-back option on the Yorkshireman, although the Terras will only exercise the clause if one of their midfielders sustains injury.

And in the smallprint of his existing deal with Poole, Weymouth have stipulated that the 27-year-old cannot play against them on Wednesday.

Speaking to Echosport, Terras’ boss Bobby Wilkinson said: “He can’t play, it’s in the deal.

“If we had had one of theirs, they wouldn’t be playing either. That’s the rule.”

Murray has only played 19 times for Weymouth this season, scoring one goal – the winner in a 3-2 victory at Slough Town.

Since joining from Dorchester in 2019, the former Leeds and Bradford youth product has 124 career Weymouth appearances to his name, with eight goals and ten assists.

However, he has not played for the Terras since Saturday, January 7 when he played the final 27 minutes of the 4-1 loss at current Vanarama National League South leaders Ebbsfleet.

Murray has since gone on to start 11 games for Poole, making an instant impact with two assists and three player-of-the-match awards.

His next game for the Dolphins comes in a crucial clash at home to fellow play-off contenders Chesham on Saturday (3pm).

Elsewhere, loanee centre-back Jamie Egan has returned to parent club Bristol Rovers after playing four games for Weymouth in his one-month spell.
