BALTI Sports kept their first clean sheet since late October after they were held to a stalemate at Turlin Moor by Poole Borough.

Balti’s last shutout came in the 1-0 home win over Bridport Reserves, but Marco Nott’s men remain 12th, one place behind Borough on goal difference.

Matt Chambers fired over for Balti before Poole wrestled back control of the game, Jake Dove and Alfie Tilsed denied by superb goalline blocks.

Jack Drummond fired wide for Balti in response but the visitors needed goalkeeper Andy Nott to deny Dove in a one-on-one situation before half-time.

Conditions and the quality of both teams’ play deteriorated in the second half with Luke Bascombe going close for the hosts before the match slid towards a 0-0 draw.

Hornets’ boss Wayne Hawes also saw red late in the second half for protesting against the officials over a substitution.

Speaking to Echosport, Balti boss Marco Nott highlighted his satisfaction with a long overdue clean sheet.

He said: “It was a good point, it was extremely tricky conditions to play with the pitch.

“It was a really scrappy game, both teams were playing long balls to get the attackers in the game.

“Especially the goals we’ve conceded in recent times, we’ve conceded a shedload of goals so to keep a clean sheet was really pleasing.

“Andy’s been superb over the period where we have conceded a lot of goals.

“It was nice for him to get a reward and he made another two outstanding saves in the first half to keep them at bay.

“I’d take a draw after recent weeks and performances, it was a big positive.”
