DEFLATED boss Bobby Wilkinson described Terras’ late defeat at Chippenham Town as “the lowest I’ve ever felt in football”.

Weymouth led twice, only to lose 3-2 at the Bluebirds, courtesy of a stoppage-time penalty.

The loss came just three days on from a last-gasp win over Welling United as the rollercoaster of emotions in the National League South relegation scrap continue.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent after the game, Wilkinson said: “I’m hurting.

“This is the lowest I’ve ever felt in football. I knew this was a challenge, but you can do whatever you want, you’ve got to defend. I’m not going to defend that defending.

“No words can explain how I’m feeling. I’m very proud of the boys, but I can’t defend this sloppy defending all the time.

“I’ll take full responsibility again, if that’s what people want. This one is an absolute sucker punch. People need to see it to believe it.

“I love this football club, I love Weymouth and we shouldn’t be in the position we are with this quality of player, but we are because we can’t defend. It’s inexcusable.”

In a separate interview with Weymouth’s club media, Wilkinson added: “It is tough to take.

“My boys are hurting right now, I’m not going to start that blame culture. It’s a difficult night to take.

“I’ll let people watch the highlights and I’ll let them decide what they think about the goals.”

Ahkeem Rose and Bradley Ash were again on the scoresheet for Terras, before Chippenham rallied.

“We’ve just been outstanding for 90 minutes,” said Wilkinson.

“We should’ve won the game. We’ve just come here and absolutely dominated.

“Their manager just said we’ve dominated them. But that’s football.”

Terras stay 23rd in the table, three points from safety with eight games to play.
