DORSET captain Luke Webb insists it is “business as usual” for his talented side as they begin the new season against Herefordshire tomorrow (11am).

Webb’s men open their NCCA T20 campaign with a double-header at Sherborne School, looking to improve on their semi-final result last season.

Dorset were beaten by six wickets against Cambridgeshire in 2022 but have strengthened their middle order in pursuit of the 2023 title with big-hitting white-ball specialist Ross Whiteley.

And Webb expects a demanding task this season with the standard of National Counties ever on the rise.

He told Echosport: “It’s business as usual. We’ve had great success in the Twenty20 but that means absolutely nothing now.

“I’m not too interested in what’s gone, just fully focused on what’s to come. It’s going to be another challenging competition.

“All the sides just get better and better every year. To win not just one, but two games on the day, you have to be exceptional. We’ll have to be at our very best.”
