DORCHESTER Rugby Club plan for a bright future for girls' and ladies’ rugby with the appointment of new lead coach Lauren Leatherland.

Leatherland joins the setup to further develop Dorchester's aforementioned teams and offer top class coaching.

Currently a PE teacher at Thomas Hardye School, Leatherland has represented England at under-20 level, winning Tri-Nations Cup, and has played for both Worcester Warriors and Exeter Chiefs.

She started her rugby career in the county representing Dorset & Wilts.

Leatherland played as prop and has scored several tries from the front row.

More recently, she has been appointed forwards coach to the senior Dorset & Wilts Ladies side also.

Leatherland has run 'Inner Warrior' events for Exeter Chiefs and is a Level Two coach.

Moving towards the new season in September, Leatherland has committed to two coaching sessions a month and will run an Inner Warrior event at Dorchester.

This appointment has been made possible by the Clayson Scaffolding Player Development Plan, proudly backed by managing director Leigh Cornick.

Cornick is a proud advocate of local community sport and Clayson’s partnership with the club has been invaluable in providing an improved coaching setup across all age groups.

All at Dorchester welcome Leatherland and look forward to her working with their girls and ladies and bringing back competitive female rugby to Dorchester again next season.
