DORCHESTER Town boss Glenn Howes believes the Magpies’ clash at Met Police can provide an away day blueprint for next season.

Dorchester visit Imber Court tomorrow (3pm) in their final Pitching In Southern League Premier South contest of the season.

The Magpies are hopeful of matching their finish of 13th in the 2015/16 campaign but have only won four times in 20 away games, scoring just 19 goals.

They face a Met side seemingly set for eighth place, although the Blues have lost four league games in succession.

Howes told Echosport: “There’s no hiding behind our away performances this year.

"We do need to pick up more points on the road if we are to progress and move forwards.

“There are various reasons for that. People focus on the playing surface, playing on the grass and 3G pitch, but the way we play and how we approach the game certainly needs reviewing.

“It gives us a small opportunity. There’s not going to be change for one game but there will be measures we’re looking to introduce next year for this fixture.

“It has to be part of our focus.”

Discussing the match-up, Howes believes the two clubs are on “similar” journeys.

“There needs to be absolute credit towards Met Police and their management team,” he said.

“Year after year they seem to supersede their expectations, their objectives and how they perform.

“I think they had aspirations of trying to reach the play-offs but we found out ourselves how difficult it is to force your way in when you’re competing against some big teams and big clubs.

“There’s a little bit of disappointment in their camp but equally there’s been a little disappointment in our camp.

“I do feel we’re in similar positions, albeit they’re in the top half. The seasons fizzle out if you’re unable to stay in touch with that pack in the play-offs.

“They’re always difficult games at Met Police but the playing surface is usually good and reasonably kind.

“Hopefully it will produce an entertaining game of football where both teams can enjoy the ball.”

Ferdinand Okoh and Baylin Johnson have been recalled by parent club Bournemouth.

Harvey-Joe Bertrand is in contention after training last night and Jordi Foot (chest infection) could return.

Player of the year Charlie Gunson (hamstring) is a doubt but Lewis Waterfield (ankle) is out, while Lewis Toms (calf) could earn a call-up if fit.
