WEYMOUTH striker Brad Ash is keen to remain at the Terras after his goalscoring exploits helped keep the club in the Vanarama National League South.

Ash scored 24 goals in all competitions, including the crucial opener in the 2-0 win at Dover on the final day, to help Weymouth escape the drop on goal difference.

He won Weymouth’s golden boot, finished among the top ten scorers in the division and was named manager’s player of the season by boss Bobby Wilkinson.

However, Ash, first signed by Brian Stock in 2021, is now out of contract and could move away from the Bob Lucas if he desired.

Asked by Echosport if he would remain with Weymouth for the 2023/24 season, Ash said: “I love the club.

“Since Bobby’s come in it’s been unbelievable for me. I’ve played every minute, I think.

“Our mission was to keep the club up and we kept up, so I’ll probably talk to him about (staying)! We’ll see what happens.”

Ash will holiday in Florida during the off-season and described his pride in being named player of the season in Wilkinson’s eyes.

“It’s a great moment for me,” Ash said.

“All the players have been unbelievable and to pull this off it’s great for all of the players.

“We’ve dug deep, stayed together. It was great getting the award and the golden boot, so it’s been a good season.”

Heading into next season, skipper Tom Bearwish remains the only player on a contract, with Weymouth expected to announce new signings soon.
