WEYMOUTH boss Bobby Wilkinson paid tribute to goalscoring duo Brad Ash and Ahkeem Rose after their goals helped the Terras escape Vanarama National League South relegation.

Ash and Rose both netted in the 2-0 win at Dover Athletic on the final day of the season, keeping Weymouth up on goal difference.

Between them, in all competitions, Rose and Ash bagged 45 goals.

Remarkably, Weymouth were one of three teams to finish on 48 points but finished 19th and two places above the drop zone ahead of Dover and relegated Dulwich.

And Wilkinson recognised the 33 league goals shared between his two strikers as a major factor in Weymouth staying up.

He told Echosport: “If you’ve got goalscorers, you win games of football.

“Brad got my player of the year and I couldn’t be any prouder of him.

“Rosey stepped up to the plate. If you notice what he did in the last couple of games, I played him in a different role, more in the pocket, because I knew they’d worry about him. There was more space.

“Both of them have kept this football club in this league with their goals.

“You’ve got to remember that we went to Tonbridge and won 5-0, we went to Concord and won 5-0. That brought the goal difference where it is.

“Everyone’s forgotten those golden moments. When you really sit down and analyse it, if we hadn’t have won 5-0 and 5-0 we would’ve way out of it.”

Joining Dulwich in the relegation zone were Cheshunt, Concord and Hungerford Town.
