BALTI Sports’ manager Marco Nott believes having Carl Mutch in his club's ranks will be a “superb asset” in their rebuilding process.

Balti are underdoing a big renovation of their squad and infrastructure this summer in a bid to halt a slide in form that saw them finish 16th in the Dorset Premier League last season.

Nott has been outspoken in his criticism of what he feels was a lack of commitment from some players last season.

However, he is now constructing a new-look squad for the 2023/24 season and Mutch is seen as a key driver for improvement.

Speaking about the former Weymouth and Portland United striker, Nott told Echosport: “Carl is going to step up this season.

“With the experience he’s got, he’s going to be a superb asset for us. Not only is he going to play, he’s been an inspiration to us off the pitch.

“He’s completed a marathon, lost ten stone in weight and played for Weymouth in the testimonial game for Ash (Wells).

“He’s going to come on board with Balti next season and have a big role to play off the pitch.

“He’s a good mate of mine and his experience is going to be extremely important going into next season.

“That’s just one person we’ll freshen it up with on the coaching staff and hopefully we’ll be looking to add another.”
