BUGLERS 29

NEW BODY FITNESS 48

NEW Body Fitness caused an upset to beat third-placed Buglers 48-29 in the South & West Dorset League Premier Division.

After a nail-biting and feisty start, New Body’s GA Grace Farrah led the team’s charge into a four-goal advantage by quarter time.

Buglers started the second quarter slowly, and New Body pounced on the opportunity to increase their lead. The game became increasingly brutal, with neither team holding back on challenging for the ball.

Despite lots of verbal pressure from Buglers’ GK Stacey Sollis, New Body extended their lead out to 11 goals at half-time.

Buglers scored four unanswered goals to kickstart the second half but in the final quarter, New Body’s C Kate Nicholls showed no signs of fatigue and was picking up ball all over the court.

While Buglers struggled to convert their opportunities, New Body were accurate and precise in their attack and stormed ahead to take a convincing win.

McCARTHY STONE 23

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS A 33

WARMER Home Improvements A edged further ahead of McCarthy Stone in the bottom half of the Premier, winning 33-23.

McCarthy made a strong start, capitalising on mistakes from Warmer A to score the first goals of the game.

Warmer A soon settled and their C Becky Hallett picked up several interceptions, giving her team multiple opportunities to score.

Warmer A came out fighting and quickly scored the first few goals, but steady passing and control from McCarthy ensured they maintained their two-goal lead by half-time.

Warmer A put the pressure on in the third quarter, and accurate shooting from their GS Ellen McDonald saw them take the lead.

McCarthy fought to stay in the game, with their WD Chantelle Bacon and GD Lauren Osgood taking strong interceptions whenever they could.

Unfortunately, McCarthy seemed to lose momentum and struggled to keep up with Warmer A despite making a few personnel changes.

Despite McCarthy’s best efforts in the final quarter, Warmer A’s performance in the second half saw them home in this closely-contested game.

FIRST FIT WINDOWS 45

ARTIFEX KRAKENS 34

FIRST Fit Windows claimed a hard-fought 45-34 victory over Division One top-half rivals Artifex Krakens.

Both teams applied the pressure early in this game. Krakens worked the ball well around their attacking third and into their shooting circle, whilst their GD Lucy Astrid made some good deflections at the other end.

First Fit communicated well, which helped them transition through court safely. Both teams chose to play at a slower pace and Krakens led 12-8 at quarter time.

After both teams made changes to bring their substitutes on, play became scrappy and unfortunately for Krakens, First Fit’s defensive changes put too much pressure on them, closing to just one goal by half-time.

In the third quarter, First Fit continued to play at a slow, deliberate pace, whilst Krakens’ midcourt and shooters used quick, swift ball movement and excellent timing to extend their lead to 31-24 by quarter-time.

The final quarter began with a heavy focus on attack for both teams. First Fit were now matching Krakens’ quicker pace which, with their continued excellent communication, allowed them to close the gap.

Then in a thrilling end, they took the lead for the first time and stormed home to take the win.

EVOLVED TUNING 12

EXE TRAINING 49

DIVISION Two leaders Exe Training showed their strength to beat Evolved Tuning 49-12 in this inter-club game.

Exe got off to a dominant start against their less experienced clubmates as whilst Evolved struggled to get the ball into their attacking third, Exe were swift and strong.

This control continued through the second quarter, however Exe’s shooters were under pressure to shoot accurately because Evolved’s defence were picking up all the rebounds.

In the second half, Evolved stepped up their attacking game and were able to put more goals on the board.

However, Exe remained strong and their shooters accurate until the final whistle, taking a great win.
