WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson feels “like a little kid” as anticipation for the new Vanarama National League South season grows.

Weymouth have been putting on one-to-one sessions with a selection of their players this summer, some beginning in early June.

The Terras’ first group session at their new Stoneham training base will be on Thursday, June 29 and Wilkinson cannot wait to get going as he embarks on a first full season at the club.

He told Echosport: “It’s about preparation for the start of the season, so we’ve got to make sure we’re fit, organised and ready to go.

“June 29th we are back in, I’m so looking forward to having the whole group back together and working extremely hard.

“I’m like a little kid, I can’t wait to get them all together. Let’s see if we can build something, enjoy a good pre-season and see if we can compete next year in the league.”

At the time of writing, Weymouth are yet to announce their home pre-season friendlies in July.

Wilkinson previously stated his preference for ten warm-up games in all, but only five away matches have been announced.

Chairman Paul Maitland has confirmed three home games are set to be rubber-stamped.

The Terras will travel to Shaftesbury, Wimborne and AFC Stoneham on July 6, 8 and 11 before visiting Poole Town on Tuesday, July 18 and Swindon Supermarine on Saturday, July 22.

Weymouth are also in talks with Portland United over a trip to the Camp & Satherley Stadium, although the friendly is dependent on the Blues’ pitch being ready in time.
