DORSET League officials have unveiled a provisional list of allocations for their six divisions ahead of the 2023/24 season.

While the tiers and clubs within them are subject to change, there are currently 83 teams entered into the league pyramid.

They include 12 in the Dorset Senior League, one fewer than planned after the folding of Upwey & Broadwey earlier this week.

Of those dozen, 2022/23 champions Bisterne United will not take promotion to the Dorset Premier League and remain in the Senior setup.

Beaminster’s relegation to Division One has also been confirmed, meaning the Rainbows are the sole team to take the drop from the 11 to finish last season.

Division One champions Bournemouth Electric Reserves cannot go up due to their first-team’s presence in the Senior League.

That means Puddletown, Allendale and Cranborne all earn promotion, while Wareham Rangers drop two levels from the Dorset Premier League.

Some 13 teams make up Division One, including three new sides in Bournemouth Poppies Reserves, Mere Town and South Cheriton but Alderholt have dropped out of the league.

South Cheriton have sidestepped after finishing second in Yeovil & District League Division One last season, while Swanage Reserves and Wool are relegated to Dorset Division Two.

Division Two champions Portland Panthers are promoted to Division One, along with runners-up Maiden Newton & Cattistock.

Bisterne Reserves, who finished third in Division Two last season, are also unaccounted for in any of the six divisions.

Division Two is comprised of 12 teams, including three brand new teams in Bournemouth Manor, Holt United Reserves and Poundbury, but Poole Borough Reserves drop to Division Three.

Bere Regis are promoted after winning Division Three, along with runners-up Westover Bournemouth.

Only 11 teams make up Division Three, following the relegation of Corfe Mullen United to Division Four.

Division Four champions Corfe Castle go up and are joined by DI United and Puddletown Reserves.

However, Wyke Regis have elected to take a drop of two tiers to Division Five, going back to square one after joining the bottom rung in the 2018/19 campaign.

There will be 12 teams in Division Four for 2023/24 after Woodville Wanderers were promoted courtesy of winning Division Five, and Wareham Rangers Reserves drop three levels.

Woodville are one of four teams to go up from the bottom tier after Stalbridge Reserves, Maiden Newton & Cattistock Reserves and Hotspire also earned promotion.

Portland Town Reserves will now be known as Weymouth Sports following Portland Town first-team’s demise earlier this year.

Wool United Reserves have been relegated to Division Five which, at 14-strong, holds the biggest number of teams in any of the six divisions.

That is due to five brand-new teams entering the pyramid at the lowest tier.

Beaminster Reserves and Symene are newly-formed west Dorset clubs, while Wessex Phoenix and Witchampton United have entered reserve sides.

There is also an entry for Wiltshire club Durrington, who will compete in the Dorset League despite possessing a Salisbury post code.

Elsewhere in Division Five, Silvercross have changed their name to Broadstone.
