DORSET clubs Bridport and Portland United have been given tricky cup ties after the unveiling of FA Cup and FA Vase draws for next season.

In the FA Cup extra-preliminary round, Portland United are set to face Wessex League champions Horndean away in what is one of the toughest draws the Blues could have been given.

Kyle Critchell’s men face the Isthmian South East Division side on Saturday, August 19 (3pm) with all ties going to a replay should they end in a draw after 90 minutes.

Winners receive £1,444 and the losers £481 in prize money.

Bridport are not one of the handful of Step 6 sides selected for FA Cup duty this year but have bagged a place in the FA Vase first qualifying round.

Chris Herbst’s Bees face a testing home draw against Step 5 Wessex Premier outfit Hamble Club on Saturday, August 26 (3pm).

The winners will earn a home tie with Andover New Street, champions of Wessex Division One, on Saturday, September 23 (3pm).

Portland United host divisional counterparts US Portsmouth in the Vase, with the winners setting up a trip to Western League Division One side Wincanton Town in the second qualifying round.

Winners receive £550 and £725 in the first and second round of qualifying respectively, with the losers only £160 and £225.

FA Vase ties go straight to penalties if level after 90 minutes.
