MANAGER Marco Nott says Balti Sports feels “like a new club” going into their Jewson Dorset Premier League opener at Wimborne Town Reserves today (3pm).

After a summer transformation in which only 11 players were kept from last season’s squad, Nott has refreshed his team with bright, young and hungry players.

He also has drafted in former Weymouth striker Carl Mutch and ex-Bridport boss Rob Marquis into his backroom team.

And, after finishing 16th in 2022/23 after a series of dismal games, hopes are high for a more positive season, although Nott is acutely aware of Wimborne’s prowess.

He told Echosport: “They’ve got a superb setup up there and last year they had a very good young side.

“It’s a tough start away from home but we’re approaching this almost as a new club. We’ve got so many different players I don’t think any of them will be scarred from last season.

“It’s been refreshing. It’s nice to feel that instead of waiting on people’s availability. They’re all keen and raring to go.”

Matt Roberts (ankle), Aston Butcher and Marcus Biles miss out, while Danny Andrews is suspended for this game only.
