DORCHESTER Town have bolstered their defence with the addition of full-back Alfie Saunders.

Saunders, 21, joins on a month-loan deal from Vanarama National League South side Farnborough.

The defender has an impressive non-League resumé, with spells at Aldershot Town, Basingstoke Town and Hungerford Town under his belt.

Saunders was welcomed in for training with the Magpies this week and could make his debut against Chesham United tomorrow (3pm).

Speaking to Echosport, boss Glenn Howes did not rule out further additions.

He said: “Scott (Symes, chairman) and the board have been 100 per cent supportive.

“The way Dorchester works is that there’s full flexibility. If there needs to be a player turnover, the board has supported us in doing that.

“If that means we have to release players and bring players in to improve the team, then that ruthless nature has to become part and parcel.

“We’re willing to work as hard as we can at the training ground to improve certain measures in our play.

“Having a player turnover is not in our nature but if we have to do it, we have to do it. The board has given us full responsibility.”
