WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson issued a warning to full-time Maidstone United, insisting the Terras will be ready and primed for a good performance tomorrow (3pm).

Wilkinson’s men enter the home contest against last season’s bottom-placed National League side having lost consecutive games against Chelmsford and Worthing.

However, Weymouth have now played four of the play-off teams from the 2022/23 season and Wilkinson is optimistic for a good haul of points this September.

The Terras’ boss also stated his players “owe” Weymouth fans a good display after the Chelmsford defeat.

“They’re full-time and will most probably be up there,” he told uptheterras.co.uk.

“Like I said to the lads, it’s never how you start, it’s how you finish. We’ve picked up some great points, played against four of the top (seven) from last year.

“You’re building a side. I have to say everyone stick together, make sure it’s all about the next game.

“We’ll be ready, we’ll compete and we better play better than what we did on Saturday at home.

“We owe the fans a good, hard-working performance and some good football like (Worthing).

“It was two different games. Saturday, we didn’t turn up and there’s no excuses.

“(Worthing) we turned up against a very, very good side who I think will win the league, so let’s wait and see.”

Weymouth are without midfielders Josh McQuoid (cancer) and Max Hemmings (knee) for the rest of the 2023/24 season.

The Terras have Tom Bearwish and Scott Rees as options in the centre of the park, while Harvey Slade still has a week remaining on his month’s loan at Bashley.

Jordon Thompson and Nelson Iseguan (both hamstring) continue to be monitored, but Anthony Cheshire is suspended.
