DORCHESTER Sports have ambitions of drastically improving their home form, going into their Dorset Premier League meeting with Poole Borough tomorrow (3pm).

Sports only won seven of their 16 home matches last season but began their 2023/24 Avenue Stadium fixture list with a 4-1 win over Bridport Reserves.

And boss Ashley James believes a change in home form is needed if his team are to challenge the top spots this season.

He told Echosport: “It will be a good game and they’ve started pretty well.

“Going back to the Avenue, we fancy our chances against most teams in the league.

“Confidence is still high. It’s unfortunate that we’ve lost two games by a cruel goal on both occasions.

“I hope we can put in a performance like we did against Bridport, get three points and start getting a run together.

“Our home form last year was poor, so this year it’s vital. The year before we only lost one game all season at home, so we’re trying to copy that.

“It’s so important that our home form’s good.”

Caleb Tennant is unavailable, while Toby Read (Achilles) is out. Josh Pratt returns, while Joel Hewitt is a doubt after being stranded on holiday.
