WEYMOUTH are into the next round of the FA Cup after a 3-1 victory away to Highworth Town.

The Terras were looking to add another cup run following their success last year as they reached the First Round proper away to AFC Wimbledon.

Ezio Touray looked to get the Terras on the front foot in the fourth minute from a corner. The striker jumped highest from the set-piece but the keeper did well to put his body in the way and block the shot.

The Terras had another chance from a Rollinson corner, and this time it was Anthony Cheshire that made connection, but the ball went just wide.

The Terras were forced into making a change after 19 minutes as a clearance from O’Connell meant that the midfielder needed to be replaced by youngster Frankie Monk.

Weymouth took the lead in the 24 minute after some heavy building pressure. A deep free kick from 25 yards out went into a busy penalty area and was tapped goalwards by Touray. Connor Johns put himself in the way to make the save, but Touray got up and stabbed the ball over the line.

The Worthians went to appeal the goal to the assistant referees on the ground of offside, but this was waved away.

Highworth's Mattimore snapped at a shot in the area on the 29th minute, but a block was forthcoming and the ball was cleared away.

Highworth right back Rhys Wells was on the attack after 35 minutes. The defender whipped a cross in from the right, but Jordan Thompson rose highest to put in a header.

The home side were piling on the pressure, and in the 40 minute, they had appeals for a penalty when Luke Whelan was brought down in the area by Olu Olumide. The referee saw nothing wrong with the challenge and waved play on.

Right before half time, Highworth came close to drawing the game level. Wells was again involved in the danger as he cut in from the right side to strike the ball. The curling shot left Benfield rooted in goal, as the keeper could only watch the ball ping off the crossbar.

The Terras countered well on the left side through nice interplay between Monk and Hamblin.

Bobby Wilkinson freshened things up in the second half as Ben Thomson replaced Joel Rollinson.

Three minutes into the second half saw the Terras try to double their advantage as Olu Olumide won the ball back in midfield and struck towards goal, but the shot rolls narrowly wide.

Anthony Cheshire looked to go down injured and was replaced by Calvin Brooks.

Highworth drew the game level after 52 minutes against the run of play. Luke Whelan drove the ball down the entire left flank before chopping the ball back and striking one past Benfield unopposed.

Charlie Rowan wound up a strike towards goal just after the hour mark, but Johns matched the ferocious shot with a great save to his right.

The Terras made their pressure count in the 71 minute as they found their second goal. Calvin Brooks headed the ball towards the goal from the corner, put in by Frankie Monk. The substitutes header went over the line before Highworth players tried to clear the ball away. The referee had given the goal.

With ten minutes to go, Highworth put the Terras under pressure with a free kick. Michael Miller snatched at the first chance before the ball came back out to Riegan Cook. The substitute struck the ball from range, which had deflected kindly off Robertson before it went into the path of Benfield to make the save.

Weymouth were awarded a penalty in the 87 minute after Touray was scythed down by Liam Haines in the area. Touray stepped up to take the spot kick, powering it down the middle. An error from Johns saw the ball slip through the keepers gloves to give the Terras a two goal advantage. The Terras striker now has four goals in his first two games.

The home side came close again in the 90 minute as Miller’s rocket of a shot from range canons off the post before going wide.

With that, the final whistle was sounded, and Weymouth are in the hat for the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, scheduled to take place on Saturday 30 September.
