DORCHESTER finally kick-started their season with a dominant ten-try victory over struggling Yeovil in Saturday's Counties 1 Tribute Southern South encounter.

The hosts were on the front foot from the off and never looked back as they closed out a 58-12 win.

After five minutes Alex Peel’s crosskick fell nicely for flying winger Cohen Emery to open the scoring.

Peel, who had a frustrating day off the tee, was unable to convert from the touchline.

Dorchester then wasted no time in extending their lead, attacking straight from the kick off, Emery crossed for his second.

Dorchester’s dominant scrum meant that the visitors were struggling for any kind of possession, and it was no surprise when centres Callum King and Jamie Morgan both crossed for tries.

With the bonus point already in the bag for the home side, Peel added the first of four successful conversions.

There was still time before the break for skipper Steve Tucker to score the try of the game. Pouncing on a botched Yeovil lineout, the No 8 set off on a 75-meter sprint up the right touchline and with a number dummies thrown in for good measure he went untouched to the try line, putting the County Town outfit in complete control, Peel again added the extras.

The second half became a little messy and disjointed, Yeovil suffered a series of injuries and Dorchester tried to play a little bit too much rugby.

Both Jack Hayward and Ollie Wills added their names to the scoresheet before Emery completed his hat-trick.

To their credit Yeovil never threw in the towel and their elusive fullback outpaced the Dorchester defence for the first of two consolation tries either side of a try for Dorchester’s young fullback Guy Chalstrey.

The tenth and final Dorchester try was fittingly added by captain Tucker. Peel’s successful conversion the last action of the day.

Second row Ollie Wills was named player of the match for Dorchester in his second game back following his successful Dorset & Wilts U20’s season.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Avonvale, the coaching team were given much to build on to extend the success and move the season forward.

Avonvale currently sit bottom of the league with three defeats from three, on minus four points following an adjustment.

Dorchester now sit in seventh, a point behind Weymouth & Portland, who were thumped 61-24 at Royal Wootton Bassett II.

Sunday had Dorchester’s Colts side in the limelight in Dorset & Wilts cup action.

The County Town’s future generation picked up a fantastic 24-17 win against a strong Royal Wootton Bassett side.
