PORTLAND United boss Kyle Critchell is expecting a "different test" when his side head to Wincanton Town in the FA Vase this weekend.

The Blues picked up their first win of the Wessex Premier League season last time out, thrashing Cowes Sports 5-1 at Grove Corner.

Portland now switch focus and head on the road tomorrow, looking to continue their progress away from league matters.

Critchell's side beat United Services Portsmouth 1-0 to set up this second qualifying round tie with Wincanton, who compete a level below the Blues in the non-league pyramid.

"It’s going to be a different test, for sure," Critchell told Portland's media.

"It’s not going to probably be as free-flowing. It’s going to be quite physical and I know a few of the Wincanton lads.

"They’re a good side. They started off really well, had a couple of defeats lately, but they won their first four or five.

"They’re the league below us. We probably go in as favourites, but we’ll just go there and put our best foot forward and hopefully come away with the win and progress in the cup.

"(Last Saturday) has given us that momentum to feel more confident going into that game."
