DORCHESTER Town first-team coach Brian Churchill says the Magpies “thoroughly deserved” their 3-1 win over Didcot Town at the Avenue Stadium.

Dorchester now have three victories in a run of four matches unbeaten and were set on their way by Jordi Barnett’s second goal of the season.

Pat Osborne’s equaliser from the penalty spot proved only a blip as the Magpies thrice hit the post before sealing victory thanks to Leighton Thomas and Will Spetch goals.

However, such was Dorchester’s dominance, Churchill believes the county town side could have extended their margin of victory.

He told Dorchester’s media team: “It was thoroughly deserved.

“From the kick-off, we’ve dominated a game of football and the only negative you could say is that we didn’t win by more.

“It was a great afternoon, nice to get three points at home and sets us up nicely for (tomorrow).

“We looked a real threat. During the week, we’ve been working. We’ve had nine days to look at this fixture and Didcot, their frailties.

“We identified some areas that we could hurt them in and the amount of chances we created is really pleasing. To take three goals in there was good.”

Churchill admitted he was “flabbergasted” by the awarding of Didcot’s penalty.

He said: “The view I had, when the whistle went I thought it was a free-kick to Dorchester.

“I’ll have to have a look at that on the Veo but I was flabbergasted when he pointed to the spot for them.”

Thomas’ goal gave him a third in as many games and Churchill again highlighted the expectations placed upon the Cayman Islands international.

“We’re kept faith with Leighton and he’s coming up trumps now,” he said.

“We’ve allowed him and Shaq (Gwengwe) to switch at intervals and they’re reaping the rewards of that.”
