BLANDFORD United recorded a second consecutive win over Poole Borough, romping to a 4-0 win.

The Royals had defeated the Hornets 3-2 last weekend in league action, before welcoming Borough back to Park Road for a clash in the quarter final of the Dorset Premier League cup.

Despite the bigger winning margin this time around, Blandford had to wait until late on to secure safe passage after Steve Smith had given the hosts a first-half lead.

Mark Ford popped up late on with an 11-minute hat-trick, putting the game beyond doubt in emphatic fashion.

Moments after Poole Borough had struck the crossbar, Blandford found themselves ahead.

Smith was on hand to head home George Coleman’s free kick on 20 minutes.

The game’s next flashpoint came in the second period, and involved another set piece.

Borough were awarded a penalty shortly after the hour mark, only for goalie Sam Pike to maintain Blandford’s lead with a fine double save.

Shortly after the keeper was called into further action, again having to make two stops to keep his clean sheet intact.

The hosts eventually sealed the game off with eight minutes remaining.

Ryan Horwood slipped in Mark Ford, who had work to do before finding enough space to fire home what would be the first of three goals.

His second would come as the game entered injury time, with substitute Jake Ford intercepting the ball in the middle of the pitch before feeding it to Mark Ford to cooly slot home.

The treble was completed when goalkeeper Pike quickly sent a goal kick up field, Mark Ford keeping his cool to finishing off the scoring on 93 minutes.

Blandford: Pike, Terry, Smith, Dixon, Laird, Manson, Horwood, Satterley (J Ford, 80), Rutten (Kempster, h-t), Coleman (McCarthy, 86), M Ford.
