DORCHESTER Town have signed striker Will Fletcher from Poole Town on a permanent deal.

Fletcher was recalled by Poole from his loan spell at Hamworthy United when the Hammers withdrew from the Southern League earlier this season.

Former Wimborne forward Fletcher has scored six goals in 58 appearances across his Dolphins career.

However, Fletcher has been limited to only five matches in Poole colours this season.

He becomes the fourth player to swap the Black Gold Stadium for the Avenue Stadium this campaign, following Will Spetch, Jack Dickson and Corby Moore.

Speaking prior to the confirmation of his newest recruit, Magpies’ boss Tom Killick said Fletcher’s arrival is borne out of a need for extra physicality in the Southern League.

He told Echosport: “We were hoping he would be available (Saturday) but that didn’t happen.

“We’re grateful to Poole for their co-operation in terms of allowing that to happen.

“We’ve been playing two out-and-out strikers. We’ve got three and it’s important in that scenario that you have four.

“Will is a little bit different. I like the fact that the three we’ve got now have different qualities.

“Will is different again in that he’s physically very strong, very good in the air and very good at attacking crosses.

“It gives us something different. I’m aware to be successful in this league that there has to be a physicality about you, to a certain degree. He’ll very much enhance that.

“Also, I like his mentality in that he’s a strong character. He won’t be fazed or flustered by things, he’s got steel about him.

“That’s what we’re trying to bring into the club and trying to achieve in terms of how the group is.”

Fletcher could make his debut in Dorchester’s league game with Bracknell Town tonight (7.45pm).
