WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson has revealed his preference for opposition in the Isuzu FA Trophy third round draw.

After beating Dover Athletic 4-1 on penalties following a sensational 4-4 draw, the Terras are through to this stage for the first time since 2021.

The draw will be made live on talkSPORT2 from 3.15pm tonight and will be regionalised following the introduction of the 24 National League clubs.

Weymouth will therefore avoid going as far as Gateshead in the draw, but Wilkinson admitted a home tie against a Step 1 side would be his ideal scenario.

Asked if he minded what kind of opposition the draw conjures for the Terras, he told Echosport: “I’ll be honest, no. We’re very ambitious lads. Anything thrown at us, we’ll take that challenge on.

“Whoever we get, we get. Let’s just hope we get a home tie to help the club out with some finances and whatever will be, will be.

“I’d love to go and compete against a National League side. I’d like to bring a National League side to our club.

“We can see how far we need to go forward to be where they are. So, we would like that.

“But, whatever we get, we look forward to it.”

Ties are scheduled for Saturday, December 9 and winners take home £4,500 and the losers £1,250.
