TOM Killick insists his Dorchester Town side will not be tricked by Beaconsfield Town’s poor form ahead of their meeting at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Beaconsfield have lost four of their past five Pitching In Southern League Premier South matches, sitting 16th, three places and two points above Dorchester.

While the Magpies feel recent promising performances have not translated into results, Killick also believes the same is true of the Rams.

Therefore, he is not reading anything into the form table, which currently has Beaconsfield in 19th of the 22 teams.

“I sense a good opportunity because we’re at home and playing well,” Killick told Echosport.

“In terms of the opposition, we look into Beaconsfield’s recent performances and the consensus seems to be that perhaps they’re in a similar situation to us.

“They’ve performed quite well and just not quite picked up points.

“You look at their team and they’ve got some good players, have an experienced manager, so it’s another one where anyone who’s involved in this league knows you can’t pre-judge the level a team’s at.

“There is so little in it and you just have to be on top of your game every week, otherwise you don’t get a result, whoever you’re playing.

“It’s dangerous to start reading anything into Beaconsfield’s results or the league table, you have to expect them to be at a really good level.”

Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at leaders Salisbury cast Dorchester into the relegation zone for the first time in 19 months.

However, Killick is unfazed by the Magpies’ position, adding: “I’m not saying that doesn’t impact on your mindset in terms of the urgency of the situation.

“But, we just know that bar the Sholing game we feel we’ve been performing well and not got enough points to show for that. That’s the be all and end all.

“We need to just maintain our performance levels but in those key moments enhance concentration and decision-making, which can be the difference in getting you the right side of the result.

“There have just been these minor lapses, either in terms of defending, which has led to us conceding goals at crucial times, or perhaps not being clinical in attacking areas.

“That was almost the case at Salisbury and against Bracknell. We’ve got to focus on those small things which can give you the edge.”

Jordi Foot remains unavailable but the Magpies are hopeful Jack Dickson (ankle) has sufficiently recovered in time.

Dorchester also continue to work on a couple of potential new signings, although they remain in the early stages.
