DORCHESTER Town go up against Swindon Supermarine in a battle of two bottom-four teams tomorrow (3pm).

Tom Killick’s Magpies have recently slipped into 19th, one place above Supermarine, who are undergoing a transformation in fortunes under Stuart Fleetwood.

Marine are unbeaten in four games, winning three, and are within striking distance of Dorchester in 20th.

With just two points bridging the sides, Killick feels the fixture carries extra significance.

He told Echosport: “Swindon’s form in recent weeks has been fairly transformed.

“They were rooted at the bottom, they’ve appointed a new manager and they seem to be on a strong run, so it’s certainly a significant fixture.

“We don’t want to be in the position we’re in and Saturday gives us a chance to push on.

“I’d rather have played them when they couldn’t seem to get a point for love or money.

“It’s boring but we’ve just talked about the fact that in this league there’s not much difference between the sides at the top and bottom.

“You just have to face up to each match on the basis it’s going to be a tough challenge. It’s just trying to be informed as possible about what they’re going to bring, and play accordingly.”

Killick added: “Football clubs are a lot happier places to be when results are going your way.

“It’s not been an easy time for anyone connected to the club. We’ve got to improve results, get momentum going and an atmosphere going.

“We have to improve the connection between the players and supporters, which is good already, but we want to try and give more to them and push up the table.

“It’s not going to be easy because you can see from the table, there are teams down there exactly like us. A, they shouldn’t be down there and B, they don’t want to stay down there.

“You can be sure there’s going to be real ambition for all the clubs down there to get themselves out of it.

“Swindon Supermarine were play-off contenders last year, so you can see the strength of the league from that.”

Louie Slough (hamstring) is fit again, but Jack Dickson and Ed James (both ankle) are doubtful. Shaq Gwengwe remains suspended after last week’s abandonment against Beaconsfield.

Killick joked: “Shaq might as well have jumped two-footed into the crowd and Cantona-ed someone, the way the games are ticking on.”
