WEYMOUTH manager Bobby Wilkinson made no excuses for the Terras’ exit in the Isuzu FA Trophy as Hendon produced an upset to win 2-0 at Silver Jubilee Park.

Weymouth went 1-0 down in the first half as Finlay MacNab poked home following Gerard Benfield’s parry.

Wilkinson’s men did not conjure their first shot on target until deep into the second half, when new loanee centre-back Joe Cook tested home keeper Brad House.

And, as the Terras pushed on in search of a late equaliser, they were hit on the break in the 93rd minute as Kai Brosnan teed up Billy Leonard to send Hendon into the fourth round.

Speaking to Echosport, Wilkinson said: “A disappointing day at the office. We just didn’t turn up, we didn’t play well.

“We didn’t perform. I wish I could give you a reason. As you can imagine, I’m being quite blunt but open and honest – we just didn’t turn up.

“Hendon deserved to go through to the next round. We didn’t create anything.”

On what was a difficult day for both teams in swirling winds, Wilkinson refused to apportion blame for the defeat on any other factor than his team’s display.

He said: “No, they all seem excuses. We just didn’t turn up. You could say it was an opportunity missed but they deserved to go through.”

On Cook, who made his debut after signing on loan from Dorking, Wilkinson added: “Joe just needs some fitness, as you can imagine.

“But he’s a good player and he will do well in this league.”

Weymouth next visit Wimborne in the Dorset Senior Cup on Tuesday night.
