WEYMOUTH boss Bobby Wilkinson has warned against a repeat of last season’s remarkable 5-0 thrashing of Tonbridge Angels.

The Terras return to the Kent side tomorrow (3pm), fresh off the back of five points in three games from their festive fixtures.

But, with Tonbridge going well in 10th place, Wilkinson is not entertaining thoughts of another handsome away day against the Angels.

“I’m not thinking of last year,” he told Echosport. “It’s two different squads and this is a young squad.

“We haven’t got the prolific goalscorers as we had last year. They’ve gone on and done really well.

“What we have got is a brilliant squad, team and we’re building each week. If we can get anywhere near last year’s result I’ll be overjoyed.

“They’re in good form and better, a lot more organised. The manager’s done a good job there so we know how difficult it’s going to be.

“I don’t want to play too much football in (our) final third, I want it in their final third. We’ve created a lot of chances the last few weeks.

“You can’t waste any opportunity to put the ball in the box. To beat this team last year we put the ball in the box on every occasion. That’s why we got five goals.

“We’ll be moving it quick and fast and hopefully try and score a couple of goals against a team in quite good form, they just drew with Maidstone.”

Charlie Rowan (neck) should feature after being stretchered off midway through the 3-3 draw with Weston on New Year’s Day.

Wilkinson added: “Charlie is good, we hear. He didn’t get concussion, it was something to do with his neck.

“His mum works in A&E and has treated him. They gave us permission, he’s good to go. He’s going to be in contention, if he gets through training. If not, definitely the week after.”

Meanwhile, new loan signing Malachi Linton is in contention to feature in Weymouth’s squad after the Yeovil Town forward joined for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
