DORCHESTER Town manager Tom Killick shared his elation with the Magpies’ 2-0 win at Harrow Borough.

Second-half goals from Will Fletcher and debutant Marcus Daws gave the Magpies a priceless three points over the team immediately beneath them.

The scoreline also handed Dorchester their first clean sheet since February 2023, when they beat Hanwell 3-0 at home some 41 games ago.

It means Dorchester, in 20th of the 22 teams in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South, are within striking distance of 16th in what is proving a tight bottom third of the table.

Killick told Echosport: “We knew there was a lot on the game, so there was quite a lot of pressure on both sides.

“We knew we couldn’t pretend there wasn’t huge significance to it.

“Someone said it was the first clean sheet of the season. We know that if we’re going to get clear of trouble we’re going to have to be better in terms of conceding goals and chances.

“Bearing in mind we were away from home, they created very little.

“We talked about the fact that as long as we didn’t concede we felt we had enough quality in attacking areas to get at least one goal.

“We knew it was important to keep a clean sheet and keep being good physically and out of possession.

“We also knew there was no point trying to chase the game too early, just to stay patient and disciplined. We did that really well.”

And with the gameplan set, Killick agreed the first goal proved crucial to breaking Harrow’s resistance.

“Yeah, we felt we needed to show that little bit to break the deadlock,” he said.

“Fletch’s goal was very much a cut above a lot of the stuff that was going on, that was what was needed.”
